Social Security Number (SSN)

Use the Social Security Number Field Type for added control and security when capturing privacy data in the form of a social security number. Social Security Fields by default redact all but the last 4 digits when displaying, and provide special encryption options for the secure storage and transmission of this type of data.

How to Create

  1. Click the to add a field in your form.
  2. Choose “New Field”
  3. Select the table you wish to add the field to. Most of the time, this will be the current table you are on, called the current context.
  4. Select a field name and click “Choose Type”.
  5. Choose “Social Security Number” from the list of field types.
  6. You can continue adding fields or click the “Select” button to finish adding.

Output formats

The Social Security Number Field has three different output formats:

  • Full Field - This output format returns the partially redacted form of the SSN. For example, *--6789.
  • Full - This output format returns the non-redacted form of the SSN. For example, 123-45-6789.
  • Last Four - This output format returns the last four numbers of the SSN. For example, 6789.

Acceptable inputs

All numerical characters are allowed. Any other characters will cause the Social Security Number Field to fail validation.

Filters

The SSN field can be filtered using any of the item-type filters.
