Spacer

The spacer is not a traditional field, as it has no value or settings. It's existence is not saved anywhere except for the page grid on which it is placed. Its purpose is to create an empty space between two columns. The width can be adjusted as with any other component on the grid. When building your application and the mouse is hovering over the field or the presentation layer is active, the spacer will appear as a box with a dashed-line border and the word “Spacer” appearing in the center. Otherwise, it will appear as empty space.

This feature will be available in an upcoming Platform Version.

How To Create

This field can only be created by being dropped onto the grid from the left toolbar. It can never be part of a table's records.

  1. Click the “Fields” button in the left corner to expand the list of fields available.
  2. Click on “Spacer”, holding the mouse button down and dragging the filter field onto the page, releasing over the grey shadow where the field will be placed.
  3. A spacer field will appear in the specified location as either empty space or the dashed-line box. There is no icon present to access settings, but you may still move and delete the field as normal.

Spacers as a Row

There can never exist a row on the page grid that only contains spacer fields as columns. Below are the scenarios in which this may occur and the corrective actions that will be automatically taken.

  • Creating a spacer field into a new row: the spacer field will not be created
  • Moving a spacer field into a new row: the move will be cancelled and the spacer will stay in its original location
  • Moving a field out of a row, leaving it with only spacer fields as columns: the row and its spacer fields will be deleted
  • Deleting a field from a row, leaving it with only spacer fields as columns: the row and its spacer fields will be deleted
