BASE64_ENCODE (Expression Function)

Purpose

The Base64 Encode function (BASE64_ENCODE) takes the input of a field value and encodes it using base64. This encoding is designed to make binary data survive transport through transport layers that are not 8-bit clean, such as mail bodies. Base64 encoded data takes about 33% more space than the original data. This function is most commonly used when communicating with a third party system that receives values that are base64 encoded.

Parameters

The Base64 Encode function has one input parameter:

Field Value

Allowed Inputs: field value

The builder can enter one field value. The builder should use the Query Builder to choose a field that contains a value.

Output

The output of the Base64 Encode function is a encoded string comprised of the value from a field.

Example

BASE64_ENCODE(“WorkXpress”) returns V29ya1hwcmVzcw==
