Calendar

Calendars are used to show the dates and times stored on certain Items. Most often, these Items represent things someone has to do, and the times represent a start time and an end time.

Calendar Settings

Calendars currently may only be viewed in week view. Implementation of a day view and a month view are planned (if this is a priority for you, please tell us so), and the view a user starts on as well as all views a user is allowed to use will be set in the Calendar Settings tab of the Block Editor. Also, calendars can start on any day of the week, and end on any day of the week. These settings, plus the configuration of which Items are displayed on the calendar, are all set on the Calendar Settings tab of the Block Editor.

Common Settings

Automations and Defaults

By default, calendars start the week on Sunday and end the week on Saturday, and the title is set to “New Layout.” A title can be set in the Appearance tab of the Block Editor; go to the Calendar Settings tab to change the starting and ending days for the week.

Use

Calendars are very useful to show someone's schedule. It is common to want to put a calendar on the user page (to show that user's schedule) and on the application homepage (to show the current user's schedule).

Parts

The calendar Layout has three parts:

  • Title Bar - Consists of a title, an icon, a drop-point for links/HTML content, and the title bar background. All the settings pertaining to the title bar are located in the Appearance tab of the Block Editor.
  • Calendar Body - The body of a calendar layout is displayed as a calendar. All Items which the calendar finds are displayed on the days between which the start time and end time fall, endpoints inclusive. Items shown by the calendar can be changed in the Calendar Settings tab of the Block Editor.
  • Layout Footer - A Layout (other than a page) usually has nothing in its footer. However, if a Layout has independent save controls enabled, a layout in edit mode will always have a save button in the footer, and, unless security doesn't allow edit mode, a layout in view mode will always have an edit button in the footer.

Modes

Calendars accept no user input. Thus a calendar in view mode looks exactly the same as it does in add mode or in edit mode.
