The evaluated Field allows the user to define a string of theoretically endless logic, ending with one Field out of a theoretically infinite number being shown on screen.
The settings for evaluated Fields allow the user to enter an Action Manager page to determine which Field will get shown by the evaluated Field. For more information, see Evaluated Field Settings.
The evaluated Field can be set to be required, which means that if the Field that gets shown can receive input, it must be filled in (e.g. if a text Field is shown, it is required, but if a link Field is shown, nothing is required). This same sort of tranference applies to the view-only setting in the Values and Auditing tab of the Block Editor: if the resulting Field normally would be in add/edit mode, checking view-only forces it to be in view mode.
The evaluated Field acts the same way regardless of the mode in which its layout is. A different Field may be shown due to evaluations set in Evaluated Field Settings, but the evaluations work the same way.
