====== Long Text ======


The long text field is used to store up to 65,535 characters of text.  This Field is commonly used for long descriptions of things, instructions, or details.

===== How to Create =====

  - Click the {{:presentation-layer:field-plus.png|}} to add a field in your [[Form|form]].
  - Choose "New Field"
  - Select the table you wish to add the field to. Most of the time, this will be the current [[Table|table]] you are on, called the current [[Context|context]].
  - Select a field name and click "Choose Type".
  - Choose "Long Text" from the list of field types.
  - You can continue adding fields or click the "Select" button to finish adding.

Field features can be edited by clicking on the orange field icon {{:longtext.png|}} when the [[Presentation Layer|presentation layer]] is displayed.

The long text field returns the full text stored in the [[Field|field]].

===== Acceptable inputs ====
The long text field accepts all alphanumberic and special characters. If [[Field Setting - Rich Text Control|rich text control]] is enabled, users can also enter HTML.

The long text field can be filtered using any of the [[Query Builder - Filter#Text-type Filters|text-type filters]].
